Green Bangkok Bike

Free bike loans.

From next month the city will keep 300 bicycles at Sanam Luang and five nearby areas that locals and tourists can use free of charge.

Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said Monday that the "Green Bangkok Bike" project was aimed at promoting tourism with exercise and a "green mentality".

The cycles will be loaned out from 10am to 9pm on weekdays and from 10am to 8pm on weekends. Initially, Thais will need to provide their ID card and foreigners will have to show their passports . Credit cards and smart cards will be soon used to borrow the bikes, which will also be installed with GPSbased tracking devices.
